In the Netherlands, teachers prepare schoolchildren to become responsible adults by giving them a role in the running of the school.
Within the program "We Europeans" broadcast on France 3, the pupils of this Dutch school, located near Amsterdam, are invited to participate in everyday tasks such as sweeping the schoolyard, baking cakes or watering the plants. The two founders of the establishment believe that these small manual and collective actions are essential to the construction of future citizens. " Everyone participates in the running of the school, thanks to this, the students feel taken into account ", explains Lars Hoogmoed. "We want our students to participate. Not just in school, but in society. So that they can find their way by having enough self-esteem to be heard", highlighted Martine van Hoogen.
This pedagogy is concerned with the development of students by focusing on personal development and the participation of children. An investment that pays off. According to several international studies, education in Dutch would train the happiest young people in the world.
