Graubünden cross-country skier Luca Tavasci just missed out on a top 10 place in his 3rd race at the Paralympics.
Tavasci finished the 12.5 km skating race in the standing category in 13th place. The 28-year-old was 1:22 minutes short of a top 10 result. He was “very satisfied” with his performance: “I kept my pace, although it was becoming increasingly difficult and deeper.”
The man from Graubünden was aware of the challenge: he prefers to run in the classic technique. In addition, the race was well attended. “The field is much denser than it was in Pyeongchang four years ago. There are world-class runners at the start,” said Tavasci.
The Engadine finishes his second Paralympic Games with ranks 11 (long distance), 16 (sprint) and 13 (middle distance). “Compared to other races this season, I was able to reduce the time gap to the top,” said Tavasci happily.
Hitchcock Gold Final
China’s Wang Chenyang won gold in his category, but only saved 1.2 seconds on Benjamin Daviet of France. Bronze went to another host athlete, Cai Jiayun.
