Since Monday, April 18, Netflix has been broadcasting the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul. But a few months ago, the filming of the series had to be interrupted after the main actor of the program, Bob Odenkirk, suffered a serious accident on the set.
A big scare. On July 27, 2021, the actor Bob Odenkirk had been victim of illnesswhile he was on the set of the sixth season of Better Call Saul. The American media TMZ reported that the 58-year-old comedian had “collapsed” on the tray, installed for the occasion under the crushing heat of New Mexico. Immediately alerted, the emergency services had gone to the spot, and Bob Odenkirk had been taken quickly to the hospital.
An accident that had greatly worried Bryan Cranston, his sidekick in breaking Bad. “Today I woke up to some news that made me anxious all morning.”had written the actor on Instagram, before adding: “Please take a moment out of your day to think of him, send him positive thoughts and prayers, thank you.”
Bob Odenkirk: “I had a little heart attack”
Fortunately, the interpreter of Saul Goodman in the Netflix series had ended up giving reassuring news, a few days after being hospitalized. “Thank you. To my family and friends who have surrounded me this week. And for all the love from everyone who has expressed their concern and care for me. It’s overwhelming. But I feel the love and that means a lot”, he wrote on Twitter on July 30, before explaining what happened: “I had a small heart attack. But it will be fine thanks to Rosa Estrada (a nurse from the Breaking Bad series in which he played, editor’s note) and to the doctors who were able to fix the problem without surgery. (…) I will take a little time to recover but I will be back soon”.
And indeed, Bob Odenkirk was able to find the film sets and finish recording the final season of Better Call Saul, broadcast since Monday, April 18 on Netflix. Spin-off of the cult series breaking Bad, Better Call Saul has managed, like its big sister, to make a name for itself with critics. In 2021, Bob Odenkirk was nominated for the Golden Globes in the category “best actor in a drama series”.
