Notice to fans of the DC Comics universe! Spotify and Warner Bros are launching original content on the music streaming platform around iconic characters. First to take off: Batman, with a new narrative podcast available this Tuesday, with a leading voice cast.
Batman arrives to bring order to Spotify. The music streaming platform is launching its new original audio series from Tuesday, May 3, Batman Autopsy (Batman Unburied, in English). This is an eight-episode narrative podcast featuring the adventures of the famous batman.
This is actually the first Spotify Original from the partnership between Spotify and Warner Bros. The agreement announced this week will allow the Swedish giant to podcast the adventures of the most famous DC Comics heroes. And this, in many languages, including French.
The first of a long line
“We have the unique opportunity to usher in a new era of the universally beloved DC Comics superheroes through the world of audio, with voices from stars,” says Dawn Ostroff, content manager at Spotify who wants to restore the power of the voice to tell dark superhero stories. Because Batman will obviously not be the only one and others will follow in the coming months.
The realization of the project was entrusted to David S. Goyer, scriptwriter in particular of Batman BeginsThe Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and Batman v Superman. Suffice to say that he masters the universe of Batman and Gotham City rather well.
A 5-star voice cast
The French voice of Bruce Wayne is that of Dali Benssalah, a young actor seen in Dying can wait, the last James Bond. But he’s not the only one vocally wandering Gotham. At his side, there is a talented cast: André Dussollier (Tanguy, The Chamber of Officers, We know the song)Ana Girardot (the series Totems, The Returned)Julia Piaton (Family Business), Sam Karmann (City of Fear, Kitchen and Addictions), Thibault de Montalembert (Ten percent) or even Laurent Stocker, actor of the French Comedy seen in Goliath and the series A French affair as Judge Lambert.
Spotify promises that its narrative podcast will be highly immersive. It’s a psychological thriller deep inside the mind of Bruce Wayne, with many iconic villains up against him. In the first episode, the hero, then a medical examiner at Gotham Hospital, examines the victims of the Reaper, a serial killer who attacks the inhabitants of the city.
