In a heart-stopping finale, Spono wins Game 4 of the Playoff Finals. The championship decision falls on Sunday.
In the top Swiss women’s handball league, there is a “Belle” for the national championship title. In front of their home crowd in Nottwil, the Spono Eagles were able to equalize the best-of-5 final series in extremis to 2:2. 5 seconds before the end, Kira Zumstein scored the decisive goal to make it 34:33 for the women from Lucerne.
For the third time in four games, a single goal difference decided the winners – for the first time Spono kept the better end for himself.
The game could hardly have been more balanced. The women from Zug got off to a slightly better start and were now 9:7 ahead. After that, the hosts from the canton of Lucerne forced the score to their side, but were never able to lead by more than two goals. With the score at 32:33, Spono took a time out a good minute before the end before the spectacular turnaround was successful.
Exciting title decision on Sunday
