Alicia Vikander: She is working on a new series of "When Calling Murder"

The thriller "On Call Murder" by Alfred Hitchcock is being reissued as a series. Alicia Vikander is not supposed to just play the lead role.

Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (32, "Tomb Raider") becomes a series star. As the US industry journals "The Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety" report, the Swede is working with screenwriter Terence Winter (60, "The Wolf of Wall Street") on a new edition of the thriller "When Calling Murder" (1954). However, the classic by directing legend Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) and the Broadway play of the same name by Frederick Knott (1916-2002), on which the film was based, are to become an anthology series.

Double function for Alicia Vikander

The series should therefore play from the perspective of a woman. Alicia Vikander will not only play the lead role, she will also work as a producer on the project. Michael Mitnick (37) is also involved as a producer and should be responsible for the scripts. Where and when the planned series will be shown has not yet been determined.

For Alicia Vikander it would be the first big TV role in the USA. The actress has so far mainly focused on cinema films internationally, including her Oscar-winning performance in "The Danish Girl" (2015) as well as "Jason Bourne" (2016), "Tulip Fever" (2017) and "Tomb Raider" (2018). In Sweden, she worked at a young age on the series "En decemberdröm" and "Andra Avenyn". She voiced a character in the fantasy series Dark Crystal: Era of Resistance, available on Netflix.
