In the documentary “Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee” broadcast on Arte Friday July 15, 2022, director Michael Berk reveals why actor David Hasselhoff did not want Pamela Anderson in “Alert to Malibu”. The reason is surprising…
Pamela Anderson could have never made the glory of the series “Baywatch”. While she had indeed been spotted after posing for Playboy magazine, David Hasselhoff opposed her arrival. “He said ‘No, no, no, I don’t want to hire him.’ I said ‘What? But why?’ She was brilliant, brilliant.” explained director Michael Berk in the documentary “Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee” broadcast on Arte Friday July 15, 2022. According to him, the actor found her a little too sulfurous for the series. “She’s great but it’s a family show. I don’t want someone who posed in Playboy” would have entrusted David Hasselhoff to the director. But that’s not all. In reality, the latter was afraid that Pamela Anderson would steal the show. “He said to me, ‘Her body, her breasts are going to distract people. If I’m in a scene with her, no one is going to look at me and everyone is going to look at her breasts’ concluded Michael Berk. Finally, Pamela Anderson was still chosen to play Casey Jean Parker.

As a reminder, it was businessman Hugh Hefner, emblematic boss of Playboy magazine, who proposed to integrate Pamela Anderson into the cast of the series “Alert to Malibu”. He called Michael Berk before the young star in the making showed up for the audition. “She was perfect for the role” confessed the director. A few weeks after her appearance on the small screen, Pamela Anderson’s notoriety accelerated, at the same rate as her love stories. She thus frequented David Charvet, her partner in “Alert to Malibu”. Both will indeed attend during seasons 3 and 4 before separating. Pamela Anderson, she stayed until season 7.
