Which healthy scent should I choose for my baby?

To guide parents in choosing baby perfumes and colognes, the UFC Que Choose unveils its ranking of healthy products.

Ah, baby smell, is there a better smell in the world? Eau de toilette or perfume, it is important to choose a product suitable for baby's sensitive skin. And above all, with a good composition: allergen-free, sulfate-free, chemical-free and aggressive.

What is the difference between a perfume and an eau de toilette?

A perfume, also called extract or essence, concentrates a low rate of perfume (less than 10%). It is therefore lighter. While an eau de toilette has a higher gasoline concentration (from 10 to 20%).

To help you choose the best product, make sure that it does not contain the following substances:

These substances can cause irritation and contain contaminants considered carcinogenic by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
  • Phenoxyethanol, a preservative that can cause eczema, hives, and may be toxic to blood and liver by the National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety.
  • The phthalates that can be found as solvents in some scented products. They are also considered endocrine disruptors.
  • Parabens, preservatives that are considered as endocrine disruptors.
  • Methylisothiazolinone (MI or MIT) and methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI), preservatives that can cause allergies.
