House of the Dragon is, without a doubt, the most anticipated series of the season. As of August 22, the first episodes of this series derived from Game Of Thrones will be available on OCS. And fans of the world of George RR Martin will notably be able to find a star of the series Outlander in the casting, in the person of Graham McTavish. The 61-year-old Scottish actor, best known for his role as Dougal MacKenzie, will play Ser Harold Westerling in season 1 of House of the Dragon.
According to the first information around the series, Graham McTavish should occupy a central place in the history of the series. Indeed, Harrold Westerling served in the Royal Guard during the reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen, and he remained in the ranks when King Viserys I Targaryen ascended to the Iron Throne. In season 1 of House of the Dragonit should serve as bodyguard to Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
House of the Dragon: when will the plot of season 1 take place?
As indicated by his name, House of the Dragon will focus on the Targaryen family and more specifically on the ancestors of Daenerys, the princess with overflowing ambition played by Emilia Clarke in the 8 seasons of Game Of Thrones. The plot of the first season of this spin-off will revolve around The Dance of the Dragons, a war of succession of the Targaryen dynasty which will notably lead to the loss of the famous dragons. It will oppose on one side Princess Rhaenyra, legitimate but disputed heir to the throne, and on the other, Queen Alicent Hightower and her son Aegon. This war began in the year 129 with the death of King Viserys I Targaryen. As a reminder, the events of season 1 of Game Of Thrones begin in 298, nearly 200 years after those of House of the Dragon.
