USA: Twitter postpones the launch of its subscription until after the midterm elections-NYT

Nov 6 (Reuters) – Twitter will delay the launch of its $8 account-certification subscription until after the U.S. midterm elections on Tuesday, The New York Times reported on Sunday.

Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The midterm elections to be held in the United States on Tuesday will determine who, from Joe Biden’s Democratic party or the Republicans, will control the two houses of Congress.

Elon Musk, who bought Twitter for 44 billion dollars, announced in early November the launch of a subscription allowing users to have their account certified.

Reuters reported on Thursday that Elon Musk has asked Twitter teams to find up to $1 billion in annual infrastructure cost savings.

The social network began Friday the dismissal of 50% of its employees. (Written by Mrinmay Dey in Bangalore; French version Kate Entringer)
