The corona pandemic thwarted the shooting. Season 2 of “Carnival Row” will now be released on February 17, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video. Also, the final season will not appear all at once. A double episode awaits you every Friday, so you won’t be able to see the finale until March 17, 2023.

Carnival Row Season 2: How the story continues

After Piety’s (Indira Varma) dark secret is revealed and the Dark Asher is defeated, there is still no happy ending for Vignette (Cara Delevingne) and Philo (Orlando Bloom).

New Chancellor Jonah Breakspear has joined forces with his radical half-sister and lover Sophie Longerbane, and the mythological creatures are in worse shape than ever.

The Faeries and the remaining “Critch” are locked in Carnival Row. Philo follows his vignette into captivity, not to be separated from her again. Meanwhile, Imogen and Agreus are on the run and find themselves sailing to freedom.

But how does the story continue? In an interview with the US magazine Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Travis Beacham and Marc Guggenheim reveal what awaits us in the new season. In Season 2, Philo’s identity will be explored in more detail.

As a half-blood, he’s not really a human, but he’s not quite a faerie either. He has to deal with this realization in the new season. In addition, Vignette and Philo have found each other again, but the relationship suffers from various things.

Philo must find himself while Vignette finds himself on the other side of a conflict. She knows exactly who she is and is proud of it. That gives a lot of basis for friction in the relationship.

In addition, Philo is the illegitimate son of the late Chancellor. He is a thorn in the side of his siblings Sophie Longerbane (Caroline Ford) and Jonah Breakspear (Arty Froushan).

The prophecy that the son of former Chancellor Absalom Breakspear (Jared Harris) will grow to be an even bigger man than his father fuels them even more.

Imogen and Agreus managed to escape the burgue. According to Beacham, they also wanted to show the world outside of the burgue and the lovers travel to a location that was mentioned in Season 1.

The showrunner does not reveal which place that is, but in season 2 we will expect two other countries and two other places in addition to the Burgue. Season 2 of “Carnival Row” has been in production since November 2019. The stars of the series were featured in a season 2 announcement video, showing their anticipation of returning to the set.

There have also been changes behind the scenes: screenwriter Travis Beacham has left the series due to creative differences, but is still listed as executive producer.

Showrunner Marc Guggenheim was also replaced by Erik Oleson (“Daredevil”, “The Man in the High Castle”).
