Open-heart investigation on TF1: where was the series filmed with Claire Keim?

TF1 is broadcasting the first three episodes of “Open Heart Investigation” tonight, with Claire Keim. A new mini-series shot between France and Belgium.

After Addict or I3P, TF1 is launching this evening in its police box on Thursday evening a brand new series entitled Open-heart investigation, carried by Claire Keim, Pierre-François Martin-Laval (Les Profs), Kevin Janssens (Close) and Jessyrielle Massengo (Alice Nevers) in the lead roles.

Written by Franck Philippon and Claire Lemaréchal, this six-part mini-series tells the story of Florence who, haunted by strange nightmares after a heart transplant, feels the need to know the origin of her new heart.

Despite the hostility of her husband Vincent, she investigates in secret and discovers that her heart belonged to Ana Daendels, a young Belgian who died in a car accident in the Basque Country. In view of the troubling circumstances, the victim’s father, Simon, has rightly decided to embark on his own investigation, convinced that it is a murder.

Filming between the Basque Country and Antwerp in autumn 2020

Boxed two years ago, between September and December 2020, Open Heart Investigation was shot between the Basque Country, in the region of Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz dear to Claire Keim, and Belgium. And especially in Antwerp and Ghent, where, among other things, the hospital scenes were filmed.

“We shot half of the series in the Basque Country”says Pierre-François Martin-Laval, the interpreter of Vincent, the husband of the heroine. “For me, it was really incredible, because Claire, she was at home (laughs). We were in such a beautiful place. Frank Van Passel, our director, the Basque Country was very graphic, he was able to film his plot with fabulous light, there were storms, waves. Shooting in the Biarritz region really motivated Franck, who came from Belgium”.

“And then we were catapulted to Antwerp, to the hospitals, it was very different”continues the actor who, like his playmate Claire Keim, has gradually fallen in love with Belgium.

“It’s true that the sequences shot in Belgium were less pleasant, less luminous, but I loved it, it’s weird (laughs)”admits the interpreter of Florence. “I fell in love with Ghent. I found my city. It’s as beautiful as Bruges, but much livelier, it’s sublime. We eat really well, there’s amazing design. I loved it “.

Most of the members of the Open Heart Investigation technical team were Belgian, like director Frank Van Passel. And this even during the sequences shot in the Basque Country. A particularity which is explained by the fact that the series is a co-production between France and Belgium.

And according to Claire Keim, the Belgian spirit and know-how that reigned on the set brought a lot to the filming and the series: “The Flemings have this very professional side. They are really incredible people. An ultra-disciplined team, with respect, a love of the set, it’s sacred. We find stuff from a long time ago here in France. Since then we have become dunces a bit (laughs). We are a bit like the brats”.

“I loved watching them work, it was beautiful”continues the actress, seen recently in Aim for the heart on TF1 also. “We felt that it was going to bring something different, almost ‘exotic’. There was a weirdness, a weirder light on this shoot. In any case, I didn’t feel like I was doing what I was doing. usual, it was great”.

Open Heart Investigation is already available in full on Salto.
