CES 2023 – TCL C845 TV: the successor to the C835 goes to 20,000 mini-LEDs and 2,000 zones

Like every year, TCL renews its range of televisions. The Chinese manufacturer is taking advantage of CES 2023 to announce the arrival of the C845, which succeeds the very good C835 that we tested. The 288-zone Mini-Led system of the C835 is replaced by a Mini-Led backlight system with 20,000 mini-LEDs managed in 2000 separate zones. TCL thus announces a peak in brightness up 20 to 30%, which could make it possible to reach 1500 cd/m².

For the rest, it retains a 144 Hz VA LCD panel displaying Ultra HD definition, compatibility with all HDR formats (HDR10, HLG, HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ), the Google TV system with a microphone integrated into the television for control hands-free, as well as HDMI 2.1 connectivity with support for VRR, ALLM and FreeSync. The novelty comes from DTS Virtual: X compatibility in addition to Dolby Atmos, as well as the presence of wifi 6 (802.11ax). As on the C835, the TV stand is still adjustable in height in two positions in order to be able to slide a sound bar there.

The TCL C845 TV will be available in 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98-inch versions from May 2023. Pricing is expected to start at €1000 for the 55-inch version and exceed €5000 for the 98-inch version. At the advertised prices, Oled models like the LG C2 seem more attractive, but TCL has a habit of making great discounts which make its televisions very interesting in terms of value for money.
