The decision of the Ferrovial group to transfer its head office to the Netherlands irritates the government.

It is an understatement to say that the departure of Ferrovial in the Netherlands is making noise in Spain. The decision announced Tuesday by the major construction and infrastructure management group has unleashed condemnations from the government of Pedro Sanchez. The executive believes it sees a strategy of tax optimization, which it considers unfair vis-à-vis the country which has favored its development. The company replies that the absorption of the parent company of Ferrovial by its Dutch subsidiary, Ferrovial International SE, should provide the group with an international structure that better corresponds to its development projects.
“I don’t think this is acceptable”told the La Sexta television channel the Minister of Economy and number two in the government, Nadia Calviño, who is a liberal figure in the left-wing government. “Spain gave everything to Ferrovial.
