We know Dodge for its powerful muscle cars and for its imposing all-terrain vehicles. The manufacturer has just revealed the first photos of its future, entirely electric Dodge Charger.

The Dodge Charger, introduced in 1966 in its first version, has become an emblem of American automobile culture: a sleek design, V6 or V8 engines that are still quite brutal and a relatively affordable price across the Atlantic. The brand now belongs to the Stellantis group and has just unveiled a new version of its Charger which will be marketed by the end of the year. We knew it was in the drawers, but no clear image had filtered through. Goodbye V8, hello electric, Dodge is entering a new chapter in its history!

A well-defined design

The overall design of the car is very close to the Daytona SRT concept, presented in 2022. Even if it is a pre-production version, we can count on the fact that it is very close to the final version. Here we are in the purest tradition of the manufacturer’s muscle cars, with an added futuristic/cyberpunk touch.

What is first striking is the brand’s famous “Fratzog” logo positioned in the center of the grille, illuminated and highlighted by a large light bar. A choice of logo which is far from innocent, since it is the one which adorned Dodge automobiles between 1960 and 1970 on some of their models. This is often associated with the golden age of muscle cars and Yankee culture, so Dodge is playing the nostalgia card.

In terms of bodywork, we will easily recognize the classic Charger: powerful lines, gigantic wheels, and an imposing size if we are to believe the photo posted on X.com (see below). The charging port is located on the driver’s side, on the rear fender.

Performance worthy of its name

This model will have four-wheel all-wheel drive and will operate at 800 V. Even if the technical details concerning power and autonomy remain unknown to date, it is possible that The Detroit News gleaned some clues on this subject in a recent report. This electric Charger could be based on the STLA Large platform developed by Stellantis. If this is the case, the vehicle will be marketed in three different versions: two offering 455 hp and another, more high-end, with 590 hp. Electric, but not eco-friendly, we stay with Dodge!

Rather amusing: the future Charger will also be available with a thermal engine. It would be a question of not forgetting its roots, and above all of avoiding losing its American customers allergic to electric vehicles. Not crazy, the wasp!
