"In 2019, 173 people were killed by their partner or ex-life partner (against 149 in 2018). Among these victims, there are 146 women (against 121 in 2018) and 27 men (against 28 in 2018)", can we read in a report of the Ministry of the Interior, produced by the delegation to victims.
"On average, a death is recorded every two days", details the official study. Women are unfortunately the main victims, representing 84% of the total, "most often of French nationality, aged 30 to 49 or 70 years and over, and does (s) not or more than professional activity. "
According to the data presented, the fatal blows are "predominantly male (88%), most often married, of French nationality, aged 30 to 49, and no longer or no longer exercising a professional activity."
Crimes are carried out with a knife or a firearm. And in 17% of cases, death is the result of strangulation, suffocation or suffocation. The setting is generally the couple's home or the victim's place of life.
For Anne-Cécile Mailfert, president of the Women's Foundation, interviewed by the France-Presse agency (AFP), "it is a frightful increase, but which does not surprise me. It must call for an urgent reaction, blah ne not enough, it is necessary that there are strong measures ".
"Marlène Schiappa did not do what was necessary. The main measures of the Grenelle are not implemented, the means are not put to sufficiently protect these women", she added.

After a careful investigation, AFP has counted since January 2020, at least 46 suspected feminicides.

An emergency number, 114, reachable by SMS, has been made available (in addition to 3919) and 119 has been reinforced by the website: allo119.gouv.fr.
