In the north of Alsace, a little boy aged 3 in kindergarten class was forgotten in a school bus. It was for more than two hours, that he remained alone at the depot of the carrier.
Last Friday, this child gets on his bus, as usual, to go to kindergarten. Got on at the Wimmenau stop, he must get off at Reipertswiller.
For reasons that are still unknown, the little boy did not get off at the bus stop to go to his school. The driver who did not realize the boy’s presence on his bus finished his tour and returned to the bus depot in Niedermodern where he arrived at 8:30 am.
It was there that, two hours later, the little boy was found, safe and sound but scared. Called on the spot, it was the mayor of the municipality of Wimmenau, Gilbert Sand, who came to pick up the three-year-old boy and drove him to school. “I didn’t have the parents’ number” he explains for the journal DNA.

Informed shortly before noon, the parents were furious but without grudges, “They admit that an error can happen, nevertheless they sound the alarm to prevent the irreparable from happening, and demand accountability from the various stakeholders”. According to the mayor, a meeting will be organized to “Analyze the dysfunctions and ensure that this does not happen again”. Gilbert Sand is committed “we will do the necessary”.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred, in February 2021, a 4-year-old child was left behind in a school bus.
