A 6-month-old baby and his parents saved from a burning building thanks to neighborhood youth (video)

Trapped on the third floor of their building in a fire, a couple decides to release their 6-month-old baby through the window, received by the neighbors and a mattress. To save the couple, the neighborhood youth formed a real human scale.

A courageous initiative saved a family from the flames on Sunday March 28.

Trapped in flames on the third floor of a building, this couple and their six-month-old baby cannot escape. It is their cries of distress that alert the neighbors, who rush to help the trapped family. The neighborhood tries to enter the building via the stairs, but the smoke is way too thick.

The only way out: go through the window.

The baby suspended to breathe

The testimonies given by rescuers and witnesses at BFMTV are cold in the back. “The parents were suffocating, their teeth were blackened by the smoke “, explains one of the witnesses. Understanding that the couple absolutely wants to save their baby first and foremost, they understand that there is only one way out: to let go of the baby so that the neighbors can catch up with him. “On the third floor, the situation was critical for the young couple and their baby. They hung him up as best they could outside, so that he could breathe”, Testifies Tahmid, one of the rescuers, to West France.

It was then that the neighbors stood at the foot of the building, just below the window of the burning apartment. They placed a mattress there to receive the baby. According to a witness, if the parents had not decided to let go of their child, he would have died within minutes.

Once the infant is rescued, the neighbors do not stop there waiting for help. We must also save the parents. Young people therefore began to climb the facade in order to create a human ladder, in order to be able to get the couple out in the flames. A real success, the parents and the baby eventually made it out unharmed and were then taken to hospital. The child is now hospitalized in a worrying state.

We salute the incredible courage of the neighbors and the young people who helped save this family, even if it means putting themselves in danger. We wholeheartedly wish the baby a good recovery.
