Could there be a Metal Gear Solid surprise in the works? Obviously, that could be the case if we are to believe a certain tweet from one of the faces of the sagas.
The MGS franchise isn’t doing too badly, even if Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 didn’t necessarily receive a warm reception. What if Konami was planning something else for its franchise, like a new project for example, beyond the remake of MGS 3 Snake Eater? There may be reason to think so following the intervention of a very important person for the license.
Before Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, it was David Hayter who lent his voice to video games’ most iconic spy. His departure from the series was not to everyone’s liking, but Kojima did not want to change his decision. Regardless, the voice actor could well make his triumphant return in a project that has not yet been revealed to the public. This is what he seems to imply via his X account (formerly Twitter).

No need to get carried away immediately, because it is possible that he simply wanted to make a tribute to a character he cherishes. However, for some people it is a clue of the utmost importance. However, when you think about it, there is nothing strange in his post. For good reason, David Hayter will reprise his role for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, even if logically, the voices will not be re-recorded.
Why not then a teaser for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2 with MGS4 included? It’s a persistent rumor, although such a port would require more work from Konami. Was David Hayter also able to meet the publisher for a new game? Or a new project linked to the saga, but much less important? In a short Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series video, Hayter said “We hope you are ready, this is only the beginning”. Knowing that the man has also sometimes teased for little, there is no point in getting carried away. But the actor, screenwriter and director seems determined to regain his place, one way or another, within this license.
