Final Fantasy 16 updates two weeks after launch. A patch that directly addresses several player complaints with the addition of a much requested option.

Two weeks already that Final Fantasy 16 came to ignite the PS5 of millions of players. The latest episode divides more than ever, but its objective seems to have been achieved: to open the emblematic license to a whole new audience. The game isn’t without flaws, and we’re not talking about its choppy pace. FF16 suffers from issues with frame rate in its Performance mode, when some players do not support motion blur effects that are too pronounced for their taste. The new update available for download today comes to tackle one of these concerns.

New update for Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16 goes to version 1.03. Square Enix rolled out a new update very early in the morning of July 6, 2023. A update occurring two weeks after the launch of the game and which adds a feature promised before its release. Aware that not all players were fond of motion blur, this FF16 patch allows you to adjust the power of the effects. New options allow both to reduce it, or simply to delete it. A few new control schemes have been added, with three new presets, all of which allow dodging with the circle button instead of R1.

And the optimization of the performance mode? You will have to iron. The update fixes a few menu stability issues and text issues, but that’s about it. Teams definitely need a bit more time to fine-tune the mode to play at 60 fps. Currently, Final Fantasy 16 suffers from nasty jerks during the exploration phases in certain places.

FF16 Version 1.03 Patch Notes

  • Added new options in the System tab of the Main Menu
    • Motion Blur: Allows players to adjust the strength of motion blur effects when the camera or character is moving. The level is set by default to 5. It can be lowered to reduce the effects or turned off completely by setting the slider to 0.

  • Adjusted default vertical and horizontal camera speed settings from 10 to 20.
  • Added 3 new controller layouts (keymaps): D, E, and F types
  • Fixed an issue affecting stability in some menus
  • Fixed some text issues
  • Added hashtag #FF16 when images and videos are shared on Twitter or YouTube.
