Is there an audience for Saw 10? One can ask the question as the license is on the decline. After a frankly excellent first episode of James Wan (Conjuring, Fast and Furious 7…), the series only pulled the strings. Other opuses, like the sequel, still offered very inventive deaths, but the franchise got bogged down until it was completely lost with Spiral: The Legacy. The tenth part will surf on nostalgia to try to restore the image of a horror saga which remains iconic despite everything.

Say goodbye to the awkward jokes and performances of Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson in the latest movie, Saw 10 back to basics. This new feature film features John Kramer, alias Jigsaw, the serial killer who massacres his victims by trapping them in more sadistic traps than each other. A return to the past for an episode that is between the second and the third.
In Saw 10, John Kramer goes to Mexico for a last-ditch operation. There, Jigsaw hopes to find a team capable of eradicating his very advanced cancer. Doctors promise a very effective care protocol, “staggering” which they say has already proven itself. It turns out that after going on the pool table, the cancerous tumor is still present, which will undoubtedly spin the serial killer. From then on, Kramer will undertake to kidnap the medical team to torture them one by one. One does not seek Jigsaw without facing the consequences.
The first trailer for Saw 10, very demonstrative, sets the tone with new bloody traps. Like the one where a man has to pierce his own skull to survive. Or the one where a woman is blocked with a barbed wire just at the level of the neck. This trailer also has a fan-service surprise in store: the return of Amanda Young. A former victim of Saw who ended up turning into an executioner.
Horror in cinema in 2023
After Scream 6, Evil Dead Rise, here is Saw 10. The film will be in theaters on October 25, 2023 in France and it will not be the only horror film of the end of the year. The same month, October 11, will mark the release of The Exorcist Devotion. The new film directed by David Gordon Green (Halloween) who will somehow try to revive a timeless myth of the genre.
We will follow the fate of two young girls who will end up being possessed by a demon. The filmmaker didn’t explain its provenance, but he did at least confirm that it wasn’t Pazazu. To save the girls, their father, played by Leslie Odom Jr (Many Saints of Newark, Glass Onion), will get closer to Chris MacNeil. Regan’s mother, played by Linda Blair, in the first film The Exorcist by William Friedkin. A comeback that divides the spectators as expected. Some find it promising, and others, rather disturbing because of a side too smooth and less creepy, according to the extracts, than the original.
