Meta will soon deploy a new “anti-harassment” button on Instagram.
It’s on the microphone of France Bleu Isère that the Secretary of State for Children, Charlotte Caubel, recently announced the implementation of an anti-harassment button to come on certain platforms of the Meta group. Among these, Instagram will offer a function allowing you to very simply announce if you are being harassed, with the possibility of contacting the e-Enfance association.

For many months now, Meta has been implementing numerous features aimed at preserving the (mental) health of its users. In addition to the possibility (among other things) of hiding likes and deactivating comments, Instagram will have a new function, this time aimed at combating online harassment.
To do this, Meta will set up a new button which will not only make it possible to report content deemed toxic, but also to direct young people (and not so young people) to a psychological support system.
According to Charlotte Caubel, “ the idea is to simplify things: a very visible button, obviously ergonomic, on which the child can press, and immediately, he is sent to the 3018 “.

In this way, the system will be responsible for guiding the victim of digital violence as best as possible in order to put them in contact with a professional from the e-Enfance association. The latter, created in 2005, raises awareness each year among 200,000 children, adolescents, parents and professionals on the issues of harassment and digital uses.
This new anti-harassment button should be gradually deployed in the coming weeks in France. Note that France should be the first country in the world to benefit from this functionality. The button will also be installed on Messenger, but also on TikTok, which will offer a link to the e-Enfance association website.
Open 7 days a week until 11 p.m. (Paris time), 3018 is a free and confidential service, which allows you to report all harmful content and accounts encountered on the Internet and/or on social networks.
