In 2007, the French discover the reality TV program Secret Story at the time presented by Benjamin Castlaldi. The concept is innovative: candidates are locked in a house in which they have to live together. Small feature: they all have a secret. The goal is to keep it as long as possible in order to go far in the show and earn a lot of money. The participants make the show with the aim of living a new adventure, but above all to stand out in order to start a new career as soon as they leave. While some have managed to fare well, like the influencer and now businesswoman Caroline Receiver, others have suffered from their participation in Secret Story. Tricks, psychological manipulations … the young woman accused the production of making money on the backs of the candidates.
The production mistreated and sequestered the candidates
Cindy Lopes, who got a lot of attention in the third season, also overwhelmed Endemol. In an interview with Gossip Room, she accused the production of "child abuse and forcible confinement". In addition to the lack of water to wash, the clocks constantly out of order, she returned to an anecdote which traumatized her: "One time, they made me sleep outside in a sort of campsite. I can't stand sleeping outside. I farted a cable, I swallowed two boxes of Doliprane, there is no one who did not care. I said, "Open the toilet so I can throw up", they told me to throw up in the toilet at the disgusting campsite, it was awful."If she did not want to take legal action, she could never forget these traumatic moments.
