This Sunday, June 4, 2023, a tragedy was narrowly avoided in the town of Nègrepelisse in Tarn-et-Garonne. A little boy drowned in the family swimming pool of his home, in cardiopulmonary arrest, it was a neighbor who saved his life.

A four-year-old boy drowned in family pool of his home, found in cardio-respiratory arrest, his family immediately alerted the emergency services. It’s finally a neighbor present who intervened and who was able to provide emergency care in order to resuscitate the child.

A drama that ends well

The arrival of emergency services on site enabled the child to benefit from first aid from firefighters after regaining consciousness. He was then transported by helicopter to Purpan children’s hospital in Toulouse. The mayor of Nègrepelisse, Morgan Tellier, spoke after going there, he welcomed the solidarity present between neighbors and the happy end of this accident.

This heroic act is unfortunately not the case for all drownings on French territory. According Public Health France, drowning is the most common cause of accidental death in everyday life among people under 25.
