a critical update to be installed urgently

Before its big update which will bring expected changes, Starfield is receiving a smaller patch which will be beneficial for certain players stuck in the game.

Starfield was one of the biggest games of 2023, but the blow seems to be gradually falling, while Bethesda aims to keep it alive for years. Skyrim-style longevity which promises to be more difficult than expected. Lately, Steam players have been deserting the game, but the publisher has a plan of attack to repopulate its space opera. Since its release, the teams have been improving their title with major updates and in a few weeks or months, we don’t know yet, the Shattered Space DLC should revive interest. But before that, time for changes.

A 1.9.71.0 update available for Starfield

In a few hours, on Wednesday March 6, 2024, Bethesda will deploy a major update for Starfield. We do not have all the details at the time of publishing this article, but certain changes have been revealed by the publisher. After installing the patch, players will finally be able to use the scanner while collecting resources or opening doors. By setting the ship’s heading to an inactive mission, it will now activate itself. The mysterious David Barron should no longer be missing from the Sabotage quest, and several other bugs will be fixed. This includes the disappearance of characters or the fact that the protagonist’s head turns to the left during a sprint. Finally, the patch will add a little touch of madness to Starfield’s photo mode with the appearance of facial expressions.

But for now, Bethesda has released a 1.9.71.0 hotfix which should change the lives of Starfield players who are experiencing progression issues. Indeed, it turns out that some users are unable to complete quests in the game. Why? These missions become deactivated for no apparent reason and it is therefore impossible to advance. “We just released a small patch for Starfield. Fixes a random issue that is causing some quests to be disabled and preventing players from continuing with them.” said the publisher on X. The list of affected missions is not available, but if in doubt, don’t miss this new update.
