a cult game confirms its return, fans will love it

Against all expectations, Aspyr Media announces with great fanfare the return from the dead of a cult Star Wars game on all platforms, fans are delighted.

It’s a time that those under 20 probably won’t be able to experience, despite the fact that a Star Wars game made an impression when it was released in 2000 on PlayStation, Dreamcast and later on Game Boy Advance. However, it is appropriate to temper the fans’ ardor, after the disaster that was the failure to return to the Force of Battlefront Collection, also headed by Aspyr.

This time a real comeback for a cult Star Wars game?

In the 2000s, the Star Wars license experienced a golden age in video games. KOTOR, Jedi Knight, Republic Commando or even Battlefront. So many truly legendary licenses, which took advantage of the enthusiasm surrounding the prelogy to attract many fans. Even if it has not had the same influence as the aforementioned titles, the title that interests us here nonetheless remains cult for many nostalgic players.

Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles, originally released in 2000 on PS1 and Dreamcast, is making its comeback in a remastered version on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, with a release date scheduled for January 23, 2025, courtesy of Aspyr Media. As a reminder, this is an action game mixing platform and beat’em all. We can play several iconic Jedi from the prelogy, such as Qui-Gon Jin, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu or even Plo Koon. As its name suggests, the title traces the events of the film The Phantom Menace.

Pre-orders for Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles are already open for the PC, PlayStation and Xbox versions, but not yet for the Nintendo Switch, if you feel like it. Its price is also “relatively” correct: 20 euros. However, it might be prudent to wait and see how the game plays out before getting excited. Let’s hope that Aspyr has learned the lesson of the absolutely catastrophic launch of Star Wars Battlefront Collection, and that the Force is on their side this time…
