A date, a demo and gameplay for The Last Case of Benedict Fox

Developed by Polish studio Plot Twist, The Last Case of Benedict Fox is a Lovecraftian-tinged metroidvania featuring a detective bound to a demon who grants him the ability to dive into the memories of recently deceased people. This gameplay presentation begins in the mansion that serves as the base of operations, but most of it takes place during the second hour of play, so the protagonist is already in possession of some abilities. At this point in the story, Ben Fox has found the body of his deceased father and goes to dive into limbo, in other words the dimension of memories, to understand the secrets left behind by his inventor father.

It is therefore here that the environment takes a supernatural direction under the influence of the emotions and traumas of the deceased, and where demons will try to prevent the player from putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Regardless, in this dimension Benedict is no longer just a detective either and can pair his demon’s sprawling abilities with melee or pistol attacks. By collecting ink from defeated demons in Limbo, the player can go to the tattoo artist to reveal (not without pain) new talents. The end of the video previews a boss fight with a noteworthy little jazz twist. Available the day of its release in the Xbox Game Pass subscription, The Last Case of Benedict Fox has an appointment on Xbox consoles and PC on April 27, 2023. A playable demo is now available on Steam.
