A Death Stranding sequel in development

“We have just started the second”. It was during an interview given for the Leo site that actor Norman Reedus, who plays Sam Bridges in death stranding, dropped the info. While referring to the first installment and the amount of work required to shoot all the MoCap sessions, the actor simply announced that filming for the sequel had already begun.

“It took me two or three years to complete all the motion capture sessions and everything. It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started the second part.”

Norman Reedus – Interview on the Leo website

If this news leaves you with a sense of deja vu, that’s normal. Norman Reedus previously hinted that a Death Stranding 2 was planned during a statement last August. He then explained that he was in negotiations for a second opus of the license. The question arose at the time whether he was not referring only to the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut. But with this new release, the doubt is no longer relevant, even if Kojima Productions has not yet officially announced a sequel to his game.

However, Hideo Kojima’s statement last December could well relate to Death Stranding 2. Indeed, speaking of the two projects in progress in his studio, he had mentioned “a great game and a new challenge”. It’s a safe bet that the great game in question is the sequel to his adventure game.
