A dedicated arm for heavily soiled dishes in the Brandt Vortex dishwasher

With its Vortex system, Brandt wants washing in the dishwasher to be as efficient as washing by hand. The BDF424VDX therefore accommodates an additional spray nozzle at the bottom of the tank to clean the dirtiest pans.

If dishwashers undeniably save the drudgery of washing up, they are sometimes powerless against the dirtiest utensils. One thinks in particular of gratin dishes smeared with burnt cheese or casseroles which have been used to cook and simmer a dish in sauce for a long time. Sometimes you have to get out the sponge, the dishwashing liquid and the elbow grease.

Brandt tackled this problem head-on and chose to equip its Vortex BDF424VDX dishwasher with an additional spray arm. In the tank of this model with a capacity of 14 covers, there is therefore a fairly classic main rotating arm, devoid of a rotating sprinkler which would generate a planetary movement, capable of reaching all corners. The manufacturer has chosen to place a second, smaller arm at the bottom of the tank, on the left side. Thus this area is dedicated to the famous dishes that are difficult to clean since powerful and concentrated jets of water will remove even the most encrusted dirt.

Washing is not the only element on which the engineers of Brandt have looked since they have also worked on the storage of cutlery. If there is a completely standard basket in the lower area, there is a modular storage space above the upper drawer. This Mini Sliding Basket (as the manufacturer calls it) can be placed on the right or on the left in order to free up height when it is time to wash stemmed glasses or larger utensils.

Less sophisticated than some models like the Bosch Series 8 SMV88TX46E, the Vortex BDF424VDX abandons voice commands or connection to a smartphone for a completely classic control panel. Placed on the front, it consists of sensitive keys and an electronic display. As the indications of the duration of the program and of the options chosen are immediately visible, no projection system on the ground containing this information is provided. The user has the choice between eight programs, and five of them are affected by the Vortex system.

Finally, a last word on the sound level of this dishwasher, which reaches 44 dB (A) according to the technical data sheet. Even if it seems contained – for comparison, it is estimated that the noise of a normal conversation is 60 dB (A) – some devices do not exceed 40 dB (A).

The Brandt Vortex BDF424VDX dishwasher is due to be available soon for €749.
