A “delirious” film with an unexpected cast: this French comedy will be talked about in 2024!

2 weeks of filming and an unexpected casting for a film announced as “delirious”… Already a new comedy for this director who had great success in 2023!

Nothing stops Quentin Dupieux! While he is expected on February 7 with Daaaaaali!, the director has already started filming his next film, entitled A notre beau métier.

This will already be the 12th feature film from the filmmaker, who has been making a series of films for several months, with the successive releases of Mandibles (May 19, 2021), Incredible but true (June 15, 2022), Smoking makes you cough (November 30, 2022) , Yannick (August 2, 2023), and therefore Daaaaaali! (released February 7, 2024, or 5 films in less than 3 years!

For his new film being filmed right now, Quentin Dupieux will call on several actors never before seen in his universe: Vincent Lindon, Léa Seydoux and Louis Garrel.

Raphaël Quenard, the rising actor, very present in cinema in 2023 (see our interview above), will be back in the film, after the success of Yannick, best score at the French box office for Dupieux, with almost 450,000 entries.

A mise en abyme around actors who play in a lousy film

What will this new film be about? “It’s a mise en abyme around actors who play in a lousy film. Actors facing their character and their lines. Each role is dual. Vincent Lindon plays an actor who plays my father. There is also Raphaël Quenard and Louis Garrel“, revealed Léa Seydoux in the columns of Telerama this Wednesday.

And added: “The film is crazy. Very, very funny. It “shits” the verb, if you’ll pardon the expression!

Léa Seydoux had until now played in very few comedies. We can cite My girlfriends (2006), his very first feature film, or France by Bruno Dumont (2021).

Why did you respond favorably to this film project? “I mainly accepted because I consider Quentin Dupieux to be an extraordinary filmmaker. A creator whose humor hides an increasingly social depth, through imperfect and clumsy characters. I read his script in one go, that almost never happens to me. He writes like he breathes. Everything happens quickly, it’s amazing: Quentin offered me the film two months ago, the filming was done straight away, and we only filmed for two weeks! This kind of project is exciting. Quentin has a form of vitality and a sense of the absurd that I really like.

A Our Beautiful Trade does not yet have a release date, but it could be released as early as this year. In the meantime, Daaaaaali! will be released in one month, on February 7, 2024. The story of a French journalist (Anaïs Demoustier) who meets Salvador Dali several times for a documentary project.
