A “different” summer 2021 with “more restrictions”: what the French should expect for the holidays: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Will summer 2021 be more restrictive than summer 2020? The mystery remains unsolved. One year after the first health restrictions imposed on French territory, the numbers of people infected with Covid-19 are not going down. Worse, the curve has been on the rise again for a few weeks. So much so that the President of the Republic would consider a turn of the screw as the Easter holidays approach. However, the concern appears to extend beyond the next few weeks. A vaccination passport could be required by airlines

Will the French tourist be persona non grata ? Very smart who can say it. If we could democratize self-tests, saliva tests and effective vaccination, we could spend a summer that could resemble the previous summer (…) If we don’t have these three things, with the pressure of variants, that can pose a problem “, explained Jérôme Marty, general practitioner. What about the vaccination passport? If we still do not know its feasibility in the coming months, airlines have already given their agreement: “Some companies do intend to impose it on passengers for this summer”, said journalist and columnist Laurent Neumann.

Will the French be able to travel outside the European Union? Nothing is less sure. For now, the borders of Hungary, Latvia, Czech Republic, Russia, Finland, Norway and Denmark are totally closed to tourists. As for countries outside the European Union, the Morocco has decided to completely close its borders, just like the rest of the international destinations formally advised against by the Quai d’Orsay. For Dr. Marty, a single lever could allow the French to travel as they see fit: “If we manage to speed up the vaccination campaign, that will bring certain solutions.”
