A British doctor ensures that in 15% of young people infected with the Omicron variant, skin rashes are observed.
The Covid-19 continues to progress. In France, on December 25, 2021, the symbolic bar of 100,000 contaminations in 24 hours was exceeded. Faced with this critical situation, the government has implemented new measures to try to curb the epidemic, but the new Omicron variant is progressing fairly quickly. It is also intended to be more contagious, particularly among young people where the incidence rates are the highest, especially among those aged 0 to 39.
According to a British doctor, Dr David Lloyd, some children even develop special symptoms such as rashes. According to him, this phenomenon would concern about 15% of young patients. “We have always had a small cohort of Covid patients who have bizarre rashes, but up to 15% of children affected by Omicron have an unusual rash.“, he explained in an interview with the English media Sky News.
Children affected by inflammatory syndrome
Even more worrying, in some children there are cases of “pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome”. This is an inflammation that will occur between 4 and 6 weeks after contracting Covid-19. This causes vomiting and a lot of fever. “We must react immediately and go to the hospital. In 40% of cases, it ends in resuscitation. The heart has a sudden heart attack, for 24 to 48 hours it will not work. So far we’ve only had one death“, clarified the pediatrician François-Marie Caron to the RadioClassique website. He specifies that 700 children have had this syndrome since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
