The PS5 could welcome a very practical functionality in the months or years to come. This one could change everything in the way you (re)experience your games.
The PS5 has only been on the market for three years and Sony still has time to improve it before the release of its replacement. And like any company, the Japanese firm constantly does research for this purpose and takes care to regularly secure all its ideas, even if some will never come to fruition.
A new PS5 feature to relive your favorite scenes?
How many times have you wanted to relive a significant sequence in a game, but without necessarily having the motivation to redo entire chapters to get there? Sony is working on a new feature that may one day be effective on PS5. The principle ? Divide a game into chapters and subchapters, then add “trigger points”.
In less barbaric terms, checkpoints that could be selected at the user’s discretion. Thus, it would be possible not only to relive an entire passage just for fun, but also to go back in order to change a regrettable decision in a title. A process that is very reminiscent of the operation of Detroit Become Human, which is a model of its kind. It is indeed very easy to dive back into the adventure and see the different endings or branches, without restarting a complete game.
Obviously, the data from a PS5 game (or other) could be stored on a server and even shared, which is similar to the patent to help a user stuck in a title. In this one, it was also a question of creating precise crossing points to allow a second player to enter a game, and to come to the aid of a colleague in difficulty. Like all patents, this idea will perhaps never come to fruition, but we see that the general concept seems to work for Sony in any case. A deployment on PS5 is therefore possible.

From today, Monday November 13, 2023, it will be impossible to share your gameplay exploits or your most beautiful PS5 / PS4 screenshots on X. The functionality, although very appreciated by part of the community, disappears. “Starting November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly Twitter) will no longer work on PlayStation 5 and PS4 consoles. This includes the ability to view any content posted on X from PS5/PS4, as well as the ability to post and view gameplay-related content, trophies, and other activity on 5″.
A rather unexpected announcement and for which the Japanese manufacturer has not explained, even if there is probably a link with the changes made by Elon Musk in recent months. To be able to exploit API X, each company must now pay a substantial sum per month. Fees probably deemed too high by Sony and Microsoft who have decided to completely remove X from their respective platforms. Bad publicity for X? Maybe… After seeing negative comments about this deletion, Elon Musk promised to “ look into the matter” without further details.
