A very sad news for Jane Birkin fans. The 76-year-old artist was to perform on January 24, 2023 on the stage of the Comedy Opera, in Montpellier, forr Oh! Sorry, you were sleeping…, a show inspired by the eponymous album she produced alongside Étienne Daho. In a press release, the place that should have hosted the interpreter of “Di doo dah” said more about the recent of this “false leap”: “The artist, suffering, will not be able to ensure the representation.” And to specify: “Spectators with tickets for this date can send their refund request to the Opéra Comédie box office. A new date for the concert will be proposed in the fall of 2023.”
This is not the first time that Jane Birkin has given up on the stage due to health concerns. In 2021, Serge Gainsbourg’s ex-girlfriend canceled all her commitments until the end of the year following “a mild form of strokel”, as announced in a press release. Nevertheless, his manager, Olivier Gluzman, insisted on reassure worried fans from the singer:Jane is in good shape. She overcame her health problems very well.“, he assured AFP. A friend of the star had, meanwhile, tried to determine the origin of this incident: “It is obvious that this stroke is linked to the stress generated by the tour, by all the energy she puts into defending Charlotte’s film [Jane par Charlotte, NdlR]. She came to present him in Cannes in a private plane to be able to do two tour dates. Jane is unreasonable when it comes to taking care of herself. She was never reasonable.”
