Apple will have to stop marketing its latest connected watches Apple Watch Series 9 And Ultra 2 on the other side of the Atlantic.

The American giant is suffering the repercussions of a dispute it has with the company Masimo, a medical company based in California. The subject of the conflict between the two parties concerns the blood oxygen saturation sensor present in the latest Apple watches, the subject of a trial which the Cupertino firm lost. As a result, it’s the Apple Watches that will suffer.

Apple will have to pause the sale of watches

This is a big blow for Apple! According to New York Timesthe group will have to stop the sale of its Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 in the United States from Thursday, December 21, while they will be withdrawn from stores on Sunday, December 24.

This announcement follows the decision of the International Trade Commission, which gave two months after a trial lost by Apple to reach an agreement with Masimo. According to its director, Joe Kiani, Apple did not appeal, and turned to Joe Biden to veto the Commission’s decision.

Apple reportedly poached Masimo employees

Masimo has developed non-invasive technology that allows us to know the percentage of oxygen carried by a person’s red blood cells. Pulse oximetry was popularized during the Covid era, the latter potentially making it possible to detect the effects of pathology on a person.

The Californian company accused Apple of patent infringement and theft of industrial secrets. She described at the time of the trial how the company founded by Steve Jobs had poached around ten of its employees as well as several of its managers, in order to steal its technology. Apple has already announced its intention to appeal the day after Christmas, December 26.
