Scott Free Productionsa film and television production company co-founded by the filmmaker Ridley Scottincluding the film Gladiatorreleased in 2000, won the Best Picture Oscar, has joined the project to produce a film that will explore the birth and rise of the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain.
Based on the book The Infinite Machine of Camila Russothe film will be written and directed by Shyam Madiraju.
“It’s incredibly exciting to have Ridley Scott and the team at Scott Free on our side to produce the film. The Infinite Machine“, Russo told the industry news site Deadline. “I can’t imagine a better team to turn the compelling story of the people behind the most revolutionary technology since the internet into a feature film that will capture the hearts of our generation.”
Russo’s book traces the history of Ethereum which “begins with Vitalik Buterina supremely gifted nineteen-year-old autodidact who saw the promise of blockchain when the technology was in its infancy,” according to the publisher’s description.
The Infinite Machine showcases “Buterin’s ingenious idea and unfolds the chaotic beginnings of Ethereum,” the text reads, adding that:
“It then explores the brilliant innovation and reckless greed that the platform – an infinitely adaptable foundation for experimentation and new applications – sparked, and the consequences that resulted from the frenzy that surrounded it.”
By using Scott Free Productions, the team behind the creative effort will benefit from the experience of the company, which has brought a number of blockbusters to the big screen. Some of the more recent projects the film production company has been involved in include House of Gucciwith Adam Driver, Lady Gaga and Al Pacino.
Scott Free Productions is currently co-producing Napoleonwith Ridley Scott directing and Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role.
