a filmmaker’s fight to produce an ecological thriller

THE OPINION OF THE “WORLD” – WHY NOT

Cameraman and director, Luc Marescot has traveled the planet alongside the ex-host and television producer, ex-minister of ecology Nicolas Hulot, volcanologist Haroun Tazieff (1914-1998)… In his documentary Green lung and red carpet, the adventurer tells us about his adventures as a filmmaker desperately trying to produce a thriller on the tropical forest, in tribute to the work of the botanist and biologist Francis Hallé, who made the preservation of this one a struggle. A good cause, it is undeniable.

Luc Marescot flies to Los Angeles, to Berlin, in search of writers, of stars who would be likely to hold the poster – Leonardo DiCaprio, Juliette Binoche? – and producers with kidneys strong enough to absorb a budget worthy of a blockbuster.

Luc Marescot is not fooled, he knows that the carbon footprint of his multiple attempts is in itself an aberration. Let us add that the director takes the stage – he is of all plans – in his frantic quest, which ends up arousing great perplexity. This does not prejudge the quality of the film which he will perhaps succeed in making – we hope he will – on his beloved forest.

French documentary by Luc Marescot (1 h 35).
