A folding cell phone with top performance: the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 in review

The most interesting feature of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: you can fold it up completely and use the 1.9-inch additional display on the back. The display itself measures 6.7 inches when unfolded, with a resolution of 2,640 x 1,080 pixels and 425 ppi. The display is nice and bright (954 cd/m²), high in contrast and scrolls smoothly with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In “FlexCam mode” the upper half of the display is used for preview, the lower half allows settings and editing options.

Its integrated high-end processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (SM8475), ensures excellent performance with 8 cores. Thanks to 80 frames per second at 1440p resolution in the graphics benchmark, even high-end gameplay works. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is IPX8 certified and therefore waterproof. There is also wireless charging, LTE and Bluetooth 5.2. Storage options are 128, 256 or 512 GB. The battery life of the 3,700 mAh battery is a good 10:41 hours in the online runtime test.

Our conclusion at the time of testing:

“The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 shows its improved hardware in the test. The high-end processor Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures top performance and the OLED display now shines brighter. The main focus, of course, is the folding mechanism with which the Smartphone can be folded completely. Technically, nothing has changed here. Only a few features have been added that use the folding display – for example the “FlexCam” mode. So you have more or less the same experience when using it as with the predecessor , only the interior has been refreshed. Nonetheless: The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a top cell phone.”
