This Saturday, March 11, fans of musical telecrochets may recognize one of the candidates of The Voice. In this third session of blind auditions is Charles, now 35 years old. Nineteen years ago he had participated in the New star. In an interview with the daily 20 minutes, the father of the family explained the reasons for his return in front of the cameras. For the occasion, it will be accompanied on stage by his companion Éliane, who will translate the lyrics of her song, “Fais-moi une place” by Julien Clerc, into sign language.
The reason for this special staging? Their 6-year-old son, Lucien, is suffering from an orphan disease. “Our son has Brown-Vialetto-van Laere syndrome. (BVVL). VS‘is an orphan disease – there are a hundred patients in the world – which affects the nerves”explained Charles, before specifying that their son has become deaf around the age of 4: “It was a test for us. There are still solutions. The most suitable for communicating with our children, c‘is sign language. Today‘today, Lucian is 6 years old. He no longer says a word but he manages to make himself understood with signs. And to add about his partner translating the song into sign language: “We wanted Lucien, when he is older, to understand the text by seeing his mother sign.”
