The new season of Star Academy is marked by the absence of Yanis Marshall. Ousted from the show due to his addictions, a former student confides in the choreographer’s behavior.
After the final of the rugby world cup, place at the Star Academy ! The show returns for a brand new season Saturday November 4 on TF1. Viewers will be able to discover the faces of the new students, who will also have to comply with a new rule. On the coaching side, Micheal Goldman returns for this second season, as well as Adeline Toniutti, Coach Joe and Pierre de Brauer. But we should not count on the presence of Laura Balon, nor that of Yanis Marshall.
Indeed, the choreographer and dance teacher was ousted from the star Academy because of his addictions. On the set of TPMP, Yanis Marshall reveals having confided in the wrong person. A conversation that he bitterly regrets and that caused him to be excluded from the program. “When leaving the stage, I downed a bottle of champagne and collapsed in tears. I had the biggest anxiety attack of my life.” he confided. Considered an alcoholic, Yanis Marshall was therefore fired by production.

A decision that Yanis Marshall still has difficulty digesting. “I was surprised they didn’t take me back, because even though I didn’t go to rehab, I had started working on myself. Cure is not the automatic response to this kind of demon. I was on my way back up, I was getting better and I hit myself in the face.” he confided to Parisian. But what do the castle’s former students think? Louis Albi, emblematic candidate of the previous season spoke to Ciné Télé Revue. “I am very surprised by the ousting of Yanis. It is a friend. He is a very sensitive, kind and human person.. It hurts my heart. But he is a global star in his field. He doesn’t need the Star Academy.” did he declare.
Before adding: “And if he drank, he was always sober in front of us.” One thing is certain, Yanis Marshall was not only unanimously appreciated by viewers but also by former students. For this new season, the choreographer will therefore be replaced by Malika Benjelloun. As a reminder, the dancer has already participated in the Star Academy, in season 2 won by Nolween Leroy.
