The alleged shooter, a septuagenarian who participated in the hunting party, was taken into custody, according to the source, confirming information from the Sud-Ouest newspaper.
An open investigation
The Dax prosecutor’s office told AFP that it had opened an investigation for manslaughter. According to the gendarmerie, the investigation must in particular determine “if people were in their place” and “if the shooting sectors were respected”.
The two men, originally from the area, were part of a group used to hunting together, according to this source.
