here is the cooler the most innovative in – at least – ten years… but is it a really useful innovation?

The LEDs in the PC were pretty cool. It was full of colors, a bit of a festive atmosphere in the box. But hey, we’re not going to lie, in truth, it’s completely out of fashion.

The really good thing to avoid being a has-been is to stick screens everywhere. There are some in certain keyboards, in controllers and even integrated into cases. Except that Lamptron has just gone even further.

An imposing double-tower cooler

The ST060 is the brand’s latest processor air cooler. This is a rather large dual-tower model (153 x 152 x 120 millimeters) and comes with the two 120mm fans which fit well.

On paper, it must compete with the best coolers on the market since Lamptron announces a dissipation capacity of 260 watts, sufficient for the vast majority – but not all – of AMD or Intel processors. It is also compatible with LGA1366, LGA1200, LGA115x, LGA1700 and LGA2011 on the Intel side, but be careful, it only accepts AMD AM4s.

To ensure good cooling, Lamptron obviously counts on the two fans, but also on the presence of six heat pipes of 6 mm in diameter and on a copper base covered with nickel. So far everything seems pretty normal, but the problem is that the ST060 is sold for 299.90 euros?!

With a Full HD LCD screen

Yes, Lamptron asks almost 300 euros for a cooler which doesn’t seem to have anything extraordinary to offer. Even the most expensive Noctura doesn’t come in at half that price.

The explanation, you know it from the title and the first photo of this article, Lamptron thought that it would be a good idea to integrate a screen into the cooler and not just any screen. We’re talking about a simply LCD panel, but with an image definition of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels all the same, or when Full HD arrives deep inside the PC!

Lamptron envisions it as a secondary screen intended to display information related to system monitoring. The brand also has the good idea of delivering an AIDA64 license with its product. You must then connect it via USB-A and HDMI, knowing that the necessary cables are provided.

Finally, a USB key with the right amount of software to make everything work as simply as possible is also delivered. In absolute terms, the diagnostic screen, why not. On the other hand, inside the PC (even with an aquarium-style case), on the cooler, is it really its place?
