With the upcoming Amazon series, Lord of the Rings is currently on the rise. Perfect for preparing a new video game on the subject.
Currently several Lord of the Rings games are on the way. Besides the game Gollum, we also know that a survival game on Moria is in development. But this time, it’s Wētā Workshop and Private Division who have just officially unveiled the arrival of another game inspired by Tolkien’s work.
If Wētā Workshop doesn’t ring a bell, it’s the company behind a lot of the work on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, including the costumes and some special effects. Wētā Workshop also has a division for video games since 2014. As for Private Division, it is a label of Take-Two, which is notably behind the edition of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
Amie Wolken (from Wētā Workshop) said the game will be different from what fans have played so far.
It’s a privilege to create a new game set in Middle-earth, especially so different from what fans have played before.
As fans ourselves, we’re thrilled for players to explore Middle-earth like never before and introduce new fans to the magic of The Lord of the Rings.”
Everything is therefore possible given the richness of Tolkien’s universe. We have already had the opportunity to have action games, strategy games, RPGs, stealth games…
This mysterious Lord of the Rings title is in early development and has no announced release date yet. It is expected to launch in Take-Two’s fiscal year 2024
