The young Aubrey Scaletta found herself caught in a seat belt strap of a van she was riding in and severed her feet. It was playing with the seat belt, unwittingly causing one end of the strap to come out of the window, which wound up on the vehicle’s driveshaft.
The other end was then wrapped around the feet of the little girl who thus found herself caught up towards the window and, by force of pressure, her feet were severed. Airlifted to the nearest hospital, Aubrey Scaletta then underwent a first six-hour surgery and remains hospitalized to this day.
