Samsung, the giant of smartphones and televisions, has been the victim of a cyberattack. The South Korean manufacturer confirmed on Monday, March 7, the theft of numerous files by hackers.

This incursion was claimed by the group of hackers “LAPSU$“, an entity known to have been introduced, a few days ago, in the databases of the Nvidia company. He allegedly stole 1 terabite of information from the graphics card manufacturer. At Samsung, the stolen files are less voluminous, but of a sensitive nature. Screenshots posted by the alleged attackers show that 200 gigabytes of data were recovered, including source code used by Samsung for encryption and biometric unlocking functions on its Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
No leakage of personal information
In a message sent to the press, the Korean company remains evasive about the nature of the events. It confirms neither the identity of the cybercriminals nor the exact nature of the stolen documents. It is content to ensure that the personal data of employees as well as customers remains safe. “According to our initial analysis, the breach involves source code relating to the operation of Galaxy devices, but does not include the personal information of our consumers or employees.“, explains the South Korean manufacturer to the Bloomberg agency.
