The video game industry is diverse, and the video game productions found there can be true masterpieces, or totally chaotic experiences. Today we are going to tell you about a game that is part of this second category, a hidden nugget which, believe us, is worth the detour!
Squirrel with a gun
This is the name of the game which, as its name suggests, allows players to embody a squirrel… equipped with a gun! The choice of weapons is very diverse and the small mammal can thus shoot with a 9mm, an uzi, or even a submachine gun.
The goal of the game is still rather vague, but it is what makes the originality of video game production. According to the page Steam of Squirrel with a gunthe goal is to make a maximum of crimes and misdemeanors of all kindswithout getting caught by the agents.
Just like a real squirrel, the game’s protagonist can use their natural talents to climb treesand D’explore the neighborhood residential from a new angle. It is also possible to interact with the residents of the area, in order to help them… or steal them. Remember, the goal is to complete as many crimes as possible!
What makes the game so interesting is the fact thatit is incredibly realistic. It’s almost like seeing a real squirrel, and the physics (the fact that it flies away with the gun because of the recoil) is perfect.
Careful development
Although the production as well as its plot seem totally chaotic, its development has been more than meticulous. In fact, it was made under Unreal Engine 5, thus allowing to give the squirrel its coat as well as its movements so realistic. It was last May that the first images of the project were unveiled, featuring the famous little mammal in a neutral zone, and giving players an idea of production.
The developer of Squirrel with a gun, Daniel DeEntremonteven studied the movements of the animal closely, in order to be able to recreate them perfectly in game. a tweethe had written : “Long mammals like squirrels, rats, and ferrets benefit from a little spinal flexion when turning”. Like what DeEntremont had taken his job very seriously.
Thanks to the hard work of its developer, Squirrel with a gun will see very soon the day in a more or less complete version (at least with a developed environment), and the players will be able to let off steam against agents and other neighbors!
