Rather than offering episodes from the era that viewers know by heart, the channel asked 18 duos to re-enact the most striking sketches of the mini-series. For the occasion, Isabelle Camus, the producer who staged Chouchou and Loulou, alias Alexandra Lamy and Jean Dujardin, confided in Gala Thursday August 24, 2023. She also revealed that the casting had been a real headache for her and her partner, Hélène Jacques. “We had already seen some 400 actors without finding the right ones”, she remembered with our colleagues. When she contacted Jean Dujardin, Isabelle Camus revealed that he was not very excited about the proposal. “He was then unemployed, painting at home and answered me: ‘No, I’m a comedian, not an actor!'”. A scenario contrary to that of Alexandra Lamy, who had to insist with the production to prove herself.
When fiction trumps reality

If Jean Dujardin was married to Gaëlle Demars and Alexandra Lamy in a relationship with Thomas Jouannet, screenwriter Guy Lepage had predicted that a romance was going to happen between blonde and brown. “He said to me: ‘You will see, each time, there ends up being a story between the actors'”, told producer Isabelle Camus to Gala. In 2003, as the program aired its final episode, Chouchou and Loulou made their real-life relationship official.
