To justify these comments and allow patients to realize that the discomfort sometimes felt when going to the gynecologist is unnecessary, the specialist took the example of another appointment with a general practitioner.
“You don’t usually feel embarrassed about your hand if you go to see your GP for hand or wrist pain, so treat your gynecologist appointment the same way”she explains before adding: “The doctor will not be interested in the shape or size of your genitals, so there is no need to be embarrassed about it.”. When it comes to intimate hygiene, the doctor reminds his patients who are used to taking a shower daily that a last minute intimate hygiene is not necessary before an appointment.
