a hooded man approaches a child and offers him candy

It was in Brest that the scene took place: a young boy on a bicycle passed a hooded man near a van and the latter offered him sweets. Very lively, the boy scampered off on his bicycle to seek shelter and alert. With little information on the man in question, police have yet to locate him.

It starts off a bit like a horror story. On Friday 5 March around 8:30 am, near the rue de Glasgow in Brest, a young boy aged 11, crossed the road of a hooded man wearing leather gloves, who was waiting next to his van. A story that could have gone very badly without the boy's presence of mind.

A scary tale

While the young boy was quietly taking a bike ride near his home, he passed the hooded man on the way to PL Guérin, a recreation center in Brest. The man offered him some candy and got into his van. The boy immediately set off at full speed on his bike, and without hesitation made his way to PL Guérin rather than his home. Once safe, he recounted his mishap and contacted the police. Her mom added in the Telegram, “he was afraid to show the man where he lived ". A very intelligent and lively reaction from the young man.

The mother deposited a handrail at the Colbert police station immediately after the facts. The problem is that law enforcement has very little information about the individual and his vehicle. The young boy, in panic, obviously did not take the registration. He did, however, give a light description of the man, measuring six feet tall, wearing a puffer jacket and jeans, and speaking in "unaccented" French.

Although the boy's mother is proud of her son's reaction and happy that he is doing well, she is worried about his mental health or any possible after-effects, and is greatly surprised that we can still use it. "the candy shot ” to bait children. We hope with all our hearts that the young boy is well.

Warn your children well

It is essential to warn your children, including the youngest, that strangers can be a danger. Even today, children should know that they should never accept anything from a stranger, whether it is a candy, a cake, a gift, a toy, even if the individual seems sympathetic. Without scaring them, we must explain to them that they should not follow a stranger on foot, in a car, in a house even after a promise of treats or video games under any circumstances.
