If the launch of the new Greek Salad series, a worthy heir to the cult characters of the Spanish Inn, has conquered the majority of Internet users, on Twitter, subscribers have noted some inconsistencies.
The Cédric Klapish trilogy, The Spanish inn (2002), Russian dolls (2005) and Chinese puzzle (2013) finally has a sequel, twenty years after the first feature film in the director’s trilogy. It is on Amazon Prime that the first episodes of Greek salad are visible, and the story relates the adventures of the children of Xavier and Wendy (Romain Duris and Kelly Reilly) who are named Xavier and Mia. They decide to go on a trip to Athens, in a family, social and modern road-trip which explores the theme of transmission and youth with humour, depth and lightness. And the series is easy to watch without having seen the original trilogy!
Xavier is no longer the young Erasmus student who arrives in Barcelona without a penny in his pocket. In Greek salad, the character played by Romain Duris now lives a quiet life in the suburbs of Paris. All this, after having celebrated its 30th anniversary between London, Paris and Saint-Petersburg in Russian Dolls then the course of the quarantine in New York in Chinese puzzle (2013).

Now sedentary, the 50-year-old travels through the projects of his children, embodied by Aliocha Schneider and Megan Northam. But how come we left Xavier on screen at 40 10 years ago and today he’s only 43 on the Amazon show? A user notes on Twitter: “There is a small inconsistency with Xavier’s age, in Chinese Puzzle, he was in his forties, Tom and Mia were around 7-10 years old, and in the series, he is 43 years old”notes a user on Twitter.
Another tears his hair out: “But above all, the son is supposed to be 26 years old if I understood correctly. Except that if he is 8 years old in 2013, he was born in 2005 (year of the Russian dolls) and is therefore 18 years old in 2023. Or else from the beginning everything is going much earlier, but it does not hold too much”. “It’s got me upside down”, continues another.
